Importance Of Golf Stance

Golf stance is one of the most important aspects of the golf swing.

One of the most important aspects in a golf swing is the golf stance. It provides general stability to the rest of the body. It also gives an individual with the balance needed to take a shot.

However, to be a good golfer, a good stance needs to be acquired. This article provides tips on how to improve an individual golf stance as discussed below.

First, keep the feet shoulder-width apart. The inside of the feet should be outside beneath the shoulders. The shortest iron stance should be at least two inches narrower. The foot on the target side should approximately rotate within 40 degrees towards the target.

This allows body rotation towards the target during the downswing. The foot position is usually determined by a person's flexibility as well as the speed of his body rotation.

Ball position:

The ball position will be determined by the club selected. For short irons, the steepest angle is recommendable when swinging the club. Consider taking the divot at the ball’s front. In the case of middle ranged irons, consider playing a single ball toward the target side foot.

A slightly shallower divot should be taken on the ball. For long irons, play two balls towards the foot on the target side. Consider striking the ball at the bottom of the swing arc. It is also good to consider taking a very small divot.

Balance:

As a golfer, you should consider balancing your weight on the feet balls. Your weight should not be balanced on toes or shoe heels. For short irons, 60 percent of an individual weight should balance on foot toward the target side.

In case of the middle ranged iron shots, an individual’s weight should balance on 50 percent bases for both feet. In the case of long clubs, the backside foot should balance 60 percent of your weight. This helps one to swing the club within the correct angle.

Body posture:

Body posture is of great importance for any person aiming to improve on his or her golf play. Consider keeping your knees a little flexed. They should be directly over the fleet balls to enhance balance.

Consider slight inward cocking of the back knee towards the target. This helps the golfer to brace himself on the backside leg during the backswing. As a result, it prevents lower body sway. It is good to consider hanging the hands forward of the pants zipper.

Depending on the type of the club one is hitting, the hands to body distance will always vary.

In case of any tension, make sure it is not experienced on the upper body. Tension is only allowed inside the backside foot.
